M4S are partnered with Sam Downer of PhysioPro which allows us to have multidisciplinary support for our athletes. Sam works closely with us to ensure we can provide the best injury management and prevention support possible alongside training.
Hi, I’m Sam. I graduated from the University of West England Bristol with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in 2010. With a desire to develop my knowledge further I took my education to the next level and completed a Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Queen Mary University London. I am fully registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
I have worked extensively both in the NHS and private practice which has included independent sports injury clinics, global organisations such as BUPA and a prestigious private hospital in London. I have spent time working in Rugby and Cricket, including an opportunity to work with the England Women’s Cricket first team, and more recently with tennis players and swimmers. Further to this, I recently completed my Masters thesis in the interactions of the kinetic chain and shoulder pain in tennis players.
My philosophy lies in empowering my patients. Taking time to discuss the nature and cause of the injury, and to reason how to get better but also how to try to avoid getting injured in the future is paramount to my practice.
